The YoYo was created jointly between Squid Labs and Fuse Project. The result of our combined effort is an extremely iconic product that pairs with the OLPC ($100 laptop) to keep it charged anywhere. My role in the project began very early by providing initial design criteria and continued all the way through the design of the internal mechanical assembly as well as realizing a myriad of functional prototypes and testing them in field studies in Africa and Asia. The OLPC YoYo received a 2008 Spark award, a 2008 IDEA Bronze award and has been exhibited at the NYMOMA and Cooper-Hewitt.
